From July through December 2025, I worked as a full-time Homepage Co-op at the Globe, where I took a full semester off of classes to work in New England's largest newsroom. I played a role in day to day digital publishing and audience engagement. One of my primary responsibilities was managing the social media queue, drafting platform-specific copy for X, Facebook, Bluesky, and Threads, and supporting social media distribution during breaking news cycles to ensure timely, accurate coverage reached readers quickly.

In addition to social publishing, I contributed to the Globe’s daily mobile push alerts and email sends, helping to surface top stories and breaking developments to audiences across platforms. This role strengthened my skills in fast-paced news environments, headline writing, and audience-first distribution strategies.

I am now continuing with the Globe as a Homepage Messenger while finishing my degree. In this role, I support ongoing homepage and social coverage, assist with audience engagement efforts, and contribute to breaking news and daily digital publishing workflows.

"Maia started without any background in breaking news and finished her

six-month stint with us as an enormously capable member of the team who could

perform any of the actions required of a full-fledged homepage staffer. She

demonstrated her capabilities with social media and breaking news emails and was

especially good at working without direct oversight in a context that required a lot of

multi-tasking."
